Australian Post Evening River Cruise

'Tis the season to be jolly and and what better way to celebrate than with an evening River Cruise aboard Aussie Warrior!

The Australian Post employees had just that idea and joined us on Saturday 24th November 2012 for a 4 hour cruise departing from Barrack Street at 6.30pm.

They brought along their own food and drink which gave us plenty of time to decorate Aussie in the appropriate Christmas theme attire. We blasted their choice of music out over the speakers and plenty of people were up dancing and enjoying themselves - check out the photos below!

What an excellent way to start off the Christmas Season with a bang!

Meet Some of Our Team

Here at Mills we are a mixed bunch with members of staff from all over the world!

Let me introduce you to a few of them below...

Natasha and Mark

Tash & Mark took over Mills Charters back in January 2009. They have gone from strength to strength building up a successful business through word of mouth and excellent customer service. They are regulars when it comes to charity events and donating to excellent causes.

Emma

Emma joined us from England back in October and hopes to stay in Australia for the long term. Seeing that her favourite animals are whales and dolphins, she couldn't have landed herself a better job!

Stacy

Stacy is our most recent member of staff fresh from America. She has had plenty of experience working on boats in Alaska and has plenty of knowledge when it comes to fishing. She brings a female touch to our predominantly male crew!

Paddy

Paddy is one of our longest standing members of staff and his knowledge of the whales is ongoing. When teamed with Stacy they are renowned for their "whale whispering" - the humpbacks seem to flock to them!

Chris

Chris has been with us for almost 3 years and is a regular on our Abrolhos Trips offering help and advice to our customers. He is a keen fisherman himself and soon to be sitting his Master 5.

Art For The Ocean Fundraiser

Mills were very luck to attend the Art For The Ocean Fundraiser as one of the sponsors for Sea Shepherd to support all of the hard work they put into saving whales and dolphins accross the globe.

The event took place on Saturday 17th November at The Salt on the Beach North Freemantle at 7.00 - 10.00pm where an array of vegetarian food was served and entertainment provided.

We were treated to a speech by Captain Peter Hammarstedt whos real life accounts of cruelty to these majestic creatures reminded us of why our oceans need our ongoing support and protection in order to finally bring whaling to an end.

The art auction was a huge success raising a large amount of money for this amazing cause and Mills owners, Tash and Mark, walked away with a beautiful photo enclosed below.

As if the night wasn't already superb, as we left for home we were treated to a goody bag filled with smellies and a Sea Shepherd Conservation Society t-shirt!

A great night, great hosts - an even GREATER cause!

Clint's Birthday Bash 17.11.12

We pride ourselves on our Rotto trips and have lots of returning groups each year.

Last Saturday Clint and his friends joined us for the day to celebrate his birthday and with the temperature reaching 35 degrees, he couldn't have picked a better day for it!

Aussie Warrior departed from Hillarys Harbour at 9.00am and our guests headed over to Rottnest for 8 hours of sun, fun and beach games! They brought their own alcohol (there was plenty of it!) and Mills provided the food - Clint opted for our Aussie BBQ menu so plenty of sausage sizzles to go around.

The day was success and i'm sure there were plenty of sore heads the next day - we hope to see you again soon guys!

Humpback Whale Calf Shows Off!

We had another exceptional whale watch this morning with this little guy getting very close to the boat.

If you look closely under the water you can see his protective Mother keeping a close eye...

Another very special moment for our customers at Mills Charters!

Congratulations Charlotte & Ben!

What a HUGE success our river cruise was last night! After all of the preparation from the families and staff, it came together superbly.

Charlotte and Ben were joined by their family who had flown over from England to witness them get married and they then honoured us with their company on Aussie Warrior last night for their reception.

It began at 5pm when their guests boarded at Hillarys Harbour. We had prepared all of the food and they were greeted with welcome drinks and antipasto platters which consisted of olives, sundried tomatoes, cold meats, pickled vegetables, cheese, chips and dips.

As we made our departure en route to the river, sushi plates were sent round and when we reached our destination the BBQ was lit up.

Sausages, steak, chicken, salad, potatoes and bread rolls filled the beautifully decorated tables that had been covered with white tablecloths, bali flags and flowers and glass centre pieces, whilst white lanterns hung from above.

Dessert was wedding cake, an assortment of chocolates and fruit along with the beautiful handmade cupcakes we blogged about yesterday.

Cheese and dried fruit platters made a lovely end to the evenings menu.

The weather was perfect, making for a wonderful night, and it wasn't long before people were up socialising and dancing before we made our way to Barrack Street for 10pm.

Mills Charters would like to say a BIG congratulations to Charlotte and Ben on their special day and wish you all the very best in your future together.
